Croquis Workshop ❥☯︎☽
Join us for Friday evening's croquis at our cozy design studio Ro Studio, located just off Nørreport in Copenhagen. In a relaxed and evocative atmosphere, we will draw according to live model. No prior knowledge is necessary. Croquis is a celebration of the immediate -- an exercise in capturing the body's movement, heaviness and energy without dwelling on the details. An opportunity to take a mental break in which to work intuitively and immersively. The atmosphere that arises when drawing croquis together is very special. Pencils scrape against the paper, models shift positions and time seems to dissolve. By the end of the evening you will have sharpened your sense of form and movement, and in addition to your sketches you will hopefully take a sense of lightness and flow with you. Come have fun and start the weekend in a creative free space with us. Please bring a refreshment under your arm (snack/drink) Doors open from 5:30 p.m.

Blue Print Workshop - Plants & Collage
Join us for a workshop in the old photographic printing technique Blue print and create your own unique deep blue works. Blue printing, or Cyanotypy as it is also called, is an ancient photographic printing technique from the 19th century, where sunlight is used as a source of exposure. The process of creation is completely analogous, which makes each image created unique. In this workshop, we use plant material and collage as a motif. There will be a good selection of motif material (dried plants etc.) available and inspiration in the studio. You are also welcome to bring some pressed plants, paper clips or other fine objects that you want to work with as a motif. It is a good idea to imagine the silhouette of an object and choose its subject based on it. Depending on today's weather, we will expose our prints with sunlight on the roof terrace of the drawing room or with a UV lamp. At the workshop you will get a basic introduction to Blue Print. You will try mixing two iron salts so that they turn into a photosensitive emulsion and apply them to paper in a darkroom. While the paper dries we will design and compose our motifs. After this, we learn to illuminate our pressures and finally induce them in a water bath. No prior knowledge is required to participate in the workshop. Both beginners and experienced blueprints are welcome.

〰️ Suminagashi Workshop 〰️
Come along and dive into the age-old Japanese marbling technique Suminagashi. Briefly, Suminagashi is all about creating patterns with brushes and ink on the surface of a water vessel, which are then carefully transferred onto paper. Suminagashi is a creative technique that is easy to use and everyone can participate in. Suminagashi - which translates to “the dance of ink on the water” - builds on lightness and randomness. Droplets of ink are gently laid on the surface of the water and are formed by breathing, wind, or a light movement in space. Each Suminagashi print is a unique and unpredictable snapshot that cannot be controlled. This makes it a fun and good exercise in letting go and being present in the moment, and helps to feel very relaxing and liberating to work with. It's a very meditative process, and you might be surprised at how immersed you become in the activity. Suminagashi technique originated in the Heian period in Japan (794-1185) and was used, among other things, to decorate paper for calligraphy, poetry and books. The technique is closely related to the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, which is about seeing beauty in the imperfect, the simple, and the perishable.

Blue Print Workshop - Photo & Drawing
Join us for a workshop on the old photographic printing technique Blue print and create your own deep blue prints. Blue printing, or Cyanotypy as it is also called, is an ancient photographic printing technique from the 19th century, where sun/UV light is used as a source of exposure. The process of creation is completely analogous, which makes each image created unique. In this workshop we will work with photography or drawing as a motif - you choose yourself and bring your own motif. You will get a basic introduction to Blue Printing. We will mix two iron salts so that they turn into a photosensitive emulsion and brush them on paper in a darkroom. While the paper dries, we will create our own negatives by transferring the selected motif to a transparent one. After this, we learn to illuminate our motif on the paper with a UV lamp and finally we induce our pressure in a water bath. Bring a selected photo or drawing that you want to work with as a motif. It is important that there is a good contrast ratio in the image/drawing. That is, there are areas that are completely light and areas that are very dark. Use as a selection criterion that your subject should be able to work well as a black and white photo. That you like the composition of the image and that the colors are not important. Bring your subject in digital or physical form. Feel free to choose two photos/drawings if you have any doubts, we will choose the one that works best for the purpose together. Please send your design in advance as a digital file to ro@rostudio.dk and we will make the most of our time together at the workshop:) No prior knowledge is required to attend the workshop - both beginners and experienced blueprinters are welcome.

Ebru Marbling Workshop
Come and experience the magical world of Ebru Marbling, where colors float on the surface of the water and transform into vibrant, organic patterns on paper. At the workshop you will have the opportunity to create a lot of beautiful prints that can be used in bookbinding, for cards, collage or framed as they are. We will work with traditional colors based on soil pigment on the surface of water thickened with Carrageenan. The Ebru marbling technique has its roots in Central Asia and Persia, where over time it has been used to decorate manuscripts, calligraphy and official documents. Later, the technique found its way to Europe, where it quickly gained popularity in bookbinding, papermaking, and stationery. At the workshop we will work with both traditional and more modern approaches to Ebru. Working with Ebru is a very meditative and sensual process that one easily becomes engrossed in. No prior knowledge is required and everyone is welcome.
